The Maurice River School
Nancy and Pat

Mother & Daughter – Maurice River Vision

Pat Witt founded The Maurice River School in 1965 with a vision that “The Maurice River School is not of Bricks and Mortar, but in an Ethereal Sense, likened to the Hudson River School. Where Artists gather to enjoy the regional sights.” Pat’s love of nature and the Maurice River is evident in the Maurice River School. Her vibrant paintings of the marshlands are legendary in South Jersey and beyond, capturing the light and color of the South Jersey atmosphere. Witt has exhibited throughout the United States and in Paris. She has been the subject of several documentary films on NJ Network and PBS/NJ.

NANCY WITT MULICK (1946-2020), built on Pat’s vision and founded the Maurice River Workshop in 2009. This mother and daughter team created an intensive workshop featuring beautiful vistas along and near the Maurice River, where artists gather each July to create the next great American landscape.
